For your consideration is a very clean 1968 Mustang GT. Be sure to check out all of the pictures to see the high level of quality associated with this car. Also look for the Ford Certified Report showing the car’s build stats. This GT whittles down to be 1 of 1.
Below we will go through the condition of the car. The current husband & wife who own the car have owned this car for over 20 years. Its a part of their family. Everything that has been done to the car has been of the highest quality with a mind set of authenticity and correctness. This car has been a long term love of theirs!
Finished in beautiful Sunlit Gold, the paint is in great shape. The car has been repainted several years ago and still looks excellent! We like seeing paint that isn’t brand new, it means the work is good and hasn’t shown any issues that could come with time. The paint work is very nice, it could pass for a brand new paint job. There are no signs of accidents, cracking or corrosion. Some would consider this paint of show quality. It looks as good as it would have on a showroom floor in 1968! The only thing not correct is the hood should have black stripes (easily added if a new owner wanted them). The paint and the side stripes look close to perfect! Glass, trim, bumpers, emblems and grill are all in excellent condition. If parts were not close to perfect, they have been replaced. The convertible top is new and works flawlessly. All of the lights & indicators work as they should.
Black, beautiful and in great condition is the best way to describe this pony’s interior. Everything works as it should. Most of the upholstery is original with no major signs of wear. The convertible top has been replaced along with the kick-panels. The speakers and radio have been upgraded for modern sound. The head unit has a vintage look to appear original and the speakers have been grafted into the kick panels. This interior is proper!
No signs of accidents or corrosion. The underside of this ’68 has not been overly restored so you can actually use the car not just for shows and display, but on the road as well! Everything on the underside of the car is as it should be.
Mechanical & Drive-train:
A 302 4 Venturi (4V) (4 Barrel), Automatic C4 with a 9″ rear end help scoot this car down the road and oh my, it does it well. Stopping the car properly you will find a very nice factory option, front disk brakes! The performance from this convertible GT is more of what you would expect with a 390 FE. But, this car is in fact a 302 4 Barrel. The date code correct engine still resides in the car and it runs very well. Rebuilt and .030 over, this 306ci” has a little more compression than stock and a little better camshaft. Along with that, an Edelbrock Performer intake and the heads have been ported, worked and hardened valve seats have been added. Electronic ignition has been added to its original distributor. The car has a very nice idle, it sounds very fitting to a high performance Mustang GT. It does in fact get rid of its exhaust through K-Code high performance exhaust manifolds. If you are not familiar with these manifolds, they are stock from ford on the High performance solid lifter 289 “K-Code” engines and they perform more like headers. The car starts easy, runs STRONG, runs cool, shifts well, handles well and stops great! Brakes and tires are in great shape. Power steering and power-brakes help make the ride more enjoyable. You are able to fly in, drive home. Mechanically this car is sorted out and top notch!
