This 1981 Mercedes 380SL is a clean driver with both tops included. The R107 Roadster is one of Mercedes-Benz most iconic designs. It defines the brand with uncompromising engineering, luxury, and style.

The exterior is in good original condition. The paint is Light Ivory (#623) and is in good condition. The body appears clean and straight with no damage. There are a few very small surface rust spots around the wheel arches which are typical on these cars. Underneath, the car has been undercoated and looks solid.  The soft top is in good condition and is free of holes. The factory Bundt style wheels have some minor delamination but appear good from a few feet away.

The interior has been well kept. The seats are a tobacco color and appear like new. The carpets, door panels, and console all appear in good condition as well. The wood inserts in the dash are in good condition and all the gauges are clear and functional. At some point, the radio was replaced with an aftermarket pioneer radio that works.

Mechanically, this 380SL has it’s original 3.8 liter all aluminum V8 with the 4 speed automatic. The engine starts and runs strong and the automatic shifts smoothly. The power disk brakes work great and the steering feels tight and precise. The ride is nice and soft with no squeaks or rattles. A common problem with 1981 SL’s are a failed heater servo unit. The heater on this SL was just replaced with a newly rebuilt servo unit as of February 2017.

Overall, this 380SL is a really nice driving classic with excellent investment potential. Please call to schedule an appointment to see and drive this 380SL today. This vehicle is held on consignment and is not owned by Fort Pitt Classic Cars.
