1978 Chevrolet Official Corvette Pace Car L-48 Anniversary For Sale!

Here is a very rare Corvette to add to your collection!   This car is a one owner original interior and paint Pace car.  Automatic, L48 engine with all the documentation since day one.  Everything works and everything is original (unless upgraded but in that case the original parts are still with the car).  There have been a few additions however the stock parts can be put back on easily.  Such as exhaust and carburetor.  Below I will go through the condition of the car.

Car Pedigree:  Our friend Bob recently past away. Bob was a collector and had to have every accessory, piece of memorabilia, original parts, extra NOS parts, papers and anything related to each car he owns.   With this car you will get the original build sheet, dealers sheet, instructions, owners manual, an extra set of NOS decals, receipts and any notices or paper work that came with the car.  Bob bought the car new.  This is a one owner car.  We are hoping whoever buys it will take good care of it, that was Bobs wish with the car.  This car has less than 45,446 miles. All of these miles were put on the car by its loving and carful owner.  This car has NEVER been hit, had an accident or even a scrape. 

Exterior: The paint is all original. There are some blemishes on the top portion of the front fender, however they are not really visible from a few feet away.   There has been no paint work done to this car. It is very nice, the small blemishes can be touched up however, most feel its not necessary.  The glass and emblems are clear with no issues!  The wheels have no issues or scratches. The tires are fresh but as you can see, the same brand and model tire that came on the car new.

Interior:  All original and in close to new condition.  Everything works, the AC is cold and heat is hot.  The gauges work, radio and 8-track player.  The rear defrost works, all indicators and electronics.  The seats are still soft, supple and rip free.  Dash, door panels and carpet look like they did when the car was new. The car has the original floor mats that come with it.  Along with the darker color ones that are in the car now and another set as well. There is not a squeak or rattle in this car.  It has always been out of the weather so the interior doesn’t have any fade or issues!

Mechanical:  L-48!  It starts, idles, and runs perfectly.  Bett than it does when it was new.  The reason being, a Holley Sniper EFI system has been added.  Cold starts are like a modern car!  Power, efficiency and cleanliness have all been greatly improved by the Fuel Injection!  The original matching carburetor is in a box and goes with the car.  The transmission shifts great!  Steering has been improved by a Borgeson steering box.  If you are not familiar, it makes old steering systems steer like a modern car, and this one does just that!  The original steering box is included with the car.  The tires are new, brakes are newer, all fluids have been changed and the car is mechanically excellent. The stock exhaust is rear exit, we have it.  The side pipes are dealer correct for the car and custom made.  They are not super loud but sound great.  The stock exhaust goes with the car.  Air conditioning is cold, heat is hot.  The engine runs perfect and cool even on the hottest summer days. 

Underside:  Rust, accident and damage free.  Excellent condition, unmodified and mechanically sound.

Extras:  You will be getting all of the paper work, manuals, photos, models, promos and even a corvette jacket from the dealer when the car was new.  Also, you are getting a set of matching Corvette luggage!  The ultimate accessory

Performance

Corvette performance has been improved with a dual snorkel air cleaner and new low-restriction exhaust system and mufflers on the available  350 Cu. In. V8 engine. The transverse rear leaf spring in the independent rear suspension has been widened to reduce stress. Two new transmissions were introduced in the 1978 Corvette. A new Four-Speed manual transmission is standard. A new automatic transmission is available for the 350 Cu. In. V8 engine. To celebrate the 25^th anniversary of the Corvette, the Silver Anniversary emblems are mounted on the nose and rear deck.
